Health and Safety while travelling in Marakele National Park

Marakele National Park is malaria-free zone & maintains high personal safety standard for visitors. Petty thefts within the park are always possible, just like anywhere else. Other crimes are a rarity and violent crimes are unheard at the Park.

Malaria free & Vaccinations

The Marakele National Park is a malaria-free park. If you aren't planning on visiting other Parks in Limpopo where malaria is a risk, then you will not have to bother with anti-malarials since Marakele is situated outside of the malaria-zone. You are advised, however, to check into the various vaccinations required for travel to other parks before visiting them.

Wildlife Viewing

The 'wildlife viewing safety precautions' in the video below outline tips and guidelines for viewing wild animals & birds in the park. The general rule is to avoid virtually all risks by following the advice given by your field guide. Wildlife Guides are experts and have the ``know how`` and experience to view wildlife in a safe environment.

Travelling from Johannesburg

If you are planning to visit the Marakele National Park you will likely travel via several destinations. It is more likely that you would visit on route to other destinations. If renting a car in a city, such as Johannesburg or Pretoria you should use caution and good judgement in regards to safety. Certain ``city-related`` crimes (such as theft and car-jacking) do occur and are best avoided by practicing situational awareness and taking precautions steps to prevent any such crimes occuring.
