Activities & Facilities

List of Activities & Facilities offered at the park.

Marakele has all major safari animals, including the Big five. A herd of 15 buffalo have been re-introduced recently, but are very shy. There are about 130 elephants in the park, but they tend to stick to the inaccessible northern area. There is a good chance of finding white rhino but, otherwise, sightings of flagship species are scarce. Marakele's appeal lies more in the rugged scenery and unspoiled wilderness.

Facilities

The Marakele bushveld north of the park receptionand camping site can be traveled in a normal sedan vehicle although certain areas might be a bit challenging. The entrance roads to the safari tent- and bush camp and the narrow track up to the towers, can also be accessed with a sedan. Most other roads will present difficult terrain without a SUV or 4x4 vehicle.

In order to keep the park ecosystem undisturbed, most facilities are located outside the park in the adjacent town of Thabazimbi. Please see below list of other facilities as provided by SANParks.
